Any Ideas where I can get an air hammer 'hammer' chisel (or large riveter attachment). I have found them in USA but not in the UK. All I can find is chisels or points.

Hi,
could you buy a standard chisel, possibly a broken one' and trim the point/cutting edge off, then weld a 'lump' to it?
I've never seen one so I'm only guessing what they look like. I assume they vibrate in & out several times a second and bang nails in?

Yea that was the kind of thing I was thinking of. I thought of cutting the point off the spike chisel and then welding on the ball from a ball pein hammer.
What I am after is a hand held version of a pneumatic planishing hammer.

The tooling for air chisels (like hammer heads) is going to be a hardened and tempered alloy steel (chrome vanadium?) and not particually weldable. Have you tried Frost Automotive? They sell the Eastwood planishing hammers that are based around a handheld air riveter- they might sell the tooling by itself or at least get it in if you don't want to buy direct from the US
