got problem with my compressor keeps blowing fuse itstarts ok with new fuse gets to correct pressure unloads on the pressure valve tries to start motor makes noise for 1 or2 secs then stops blows another fuse any help much appreciated thanks
Which Air Master model is it? Compressors around 3hp and above do tend to give a 13 amp plug a hard time. My 3hp compressor will blow a 13 amp fuse, so it's now wired in to a 16 amp circuit (round blue plug).
thank you for reply its the 15 /60 mod ten years old only used to blow up tyres etc very little use as I stated it only starts with a new fuse 13amp gets to pressure about 130 psi trips out with pressure switch pressure gets down to about 120 tries to restart motor tries to turn about 1 sec then fuses it seems to me that the pressure on the compressor is too great so it fuses it has got worse it used to blow fuses now and again now its allthe time when the compressor tries to restart because of the demand there must be some way that it should not start against the load of the air in cylinder
thank you had not considered that i guess because it starts when there is no load how do you check if its a capacitor prob or do you just get another one
Is your pressure relief valve working when it starts and runs up to pressure and then turns itself off do you hear a hiss for about a second which is the relief valve letting the cylinder pressure escape so the motor does not have fight against pressure already built up, it seems a good starting point if it does not hiss it will either be pressure switch at fault or the valve on the end of the plastic tube going into the tank coming from the pressure switch best of luck Chris
