air nail gun

does anyone know much about these?

I just acquired a ace&k tyi-1850 for the sum of £10

it did not work but after some messing and a new seal and a pin for the trigger it seems to be working

I need to purchase some brads to test it properly.

They look simple enough,

thanks mate already ordered a pack I need a nailer anyway so if it dont work properly i will buy a new one

Ok, long as your sorted. I think you will find it a useful bit of kit. I've only got an Aldi one, does nails & staples & I've used it for mending fence panels, making garden trellis & this sort of thing, but it makes life easy & i'm a lazy sod.

I have a lidl electric one but it just was not up for things like arcitrave i had to punch the nails that didnt bend home

I had that model Ace&K nailer. Nice to use, fairly reliable. Just keep it well oiled.

where did it go?

I think there is a bit missing the saftey part that pushes the trigger mecanisim up so that it will not fire until the tip is pushed onto the work piece. I have fixed it/ read bypassed it with a split pin for now!

well it works great fires 50mm brads home with ease I think I am going to like this tool.

The safety feature is missing though as i suspected but if yu dont pull the trigger when u aint suppose to it will be fine

Take care, they will fire nails across a room, if you've got bits in the way ... Ouch. I think I would try to rebuild the safety lock, for err safety

i did have a play with it they dont go far i thought I could shoot the pigeons but they only went a couple of feet, but yes i agree I have the parts list and diagram here it is only a funny shape piece of metal a spring and a bolt missing I may or may not fix it depends on the cost of the bits.

You need the framing nailer to shoot at pigeons....

Toolstation sell the 18g pins/nails, (Tacwise), quite cheap. Make sure you keep your fingers away from the tip area when using it, btw. Heard a few stories of pins bending round if they hit knots etc.

Tooooo noisy you would only get one shot. They still frighten the life out of me, working away quietly pulling in network or video cables and some git disturbs the peace by firing in masonry nails to fix a ceiling grid gets me every time.

Used a Paslode finish nailer; Nice tools. It's the slight gas smell I've never been fond of, with those. Currently getting to grips with one of these finish nailers. Need to get a chance to put it through its paces properly and see what it's capable of though. Only task I've tried with it so far is glazing beads using 30mm brads. Handled that fine, but I've heard that 50mm brads on a good hardwood might be pushing it, so trying to find a suitable test piece.

One problem I am having is trying to find some spare tip covers online for it. They're only a soft silicon type thing, so thinking that having a few spares to hand may be beneficial.

I have had that happen, pin bent came up through back of thumb and out through the top of the nail.
