air powered grease gun

Hi again everyone I have a problem with my air powered grease gun I bought it about 2 years ago and have not used it since it ran out of grease for no other reason than I had no need of it, now I have and I cannot even manage to fill it when I bought it the chap working with me at the time filled it while I was away and I never saw how he did it. Anyway I now need to use it and I cannot even fill it I assumed you simply undid the canister released the lock on the plunger and filled it like a syringe well that it not working for me, so I tried manually putting the grease and did not much but make a mess but I got some in it but maybe be not enough to operate it. From what I remember of this if you pulled the trigger it literally fired grease out of the end which we always did to check there was grease in it, now it makes all the right noises and occasionally you get a dribble out the end but it would never be enough to force it through a nipple can anyone give me advice on this I am sure it is because I am not getting enough grease in the gun, it has me stumped and I need to use it yesterday any advice welcome the answer is probably staring at me but I can't find it? As far as I know you retract the piston with the handle at the bottom of the cylinder, unscrew the cylinder from the air body, fill with grease, screw the cylinder back, push the piston in as far as it will go, bleed it it with the bleed screw on the air body and it should be ready to go.

it looks like your gg takes grease cartridges, pull the handle right out, then unscrew the chrome tube off the body, take end cap off grease cart and put it into the chrome tube ( open end first!) when its totally in take the other end off the grease cart and screw it back into the body, when assembled push handle back in, that's it!!

No mess and no waste

Well it shows how old I am I never new there was any such thing as a cartridge for it but I persevered and managed to fill it with one of she who must be obeyed's spoons but I am still not getting any amount of grease out of it where should the handle at the end be in or out because I am not at all sure this is putting grease where it should I am used to seeing grease push out from seams around whatever you are using it on and it is not happening at all Chris

If you filled it by hand it's likely to have lots of air pockets in it and isn't really going to work properly.
As Wobblemonster says, cartridges are the thing and bleed the air out once fitted.

Make sure you release the handle lock (the metal tab on the end of the 'syring' bit) so the plunger applies pressure to the grease.

I have released the locking tab by the syringe type handle and pushed it back in I cant imagine it is supposed to be out as it would make it to big to use Chris

on some grease guns you can pull out the plunger and twist it so that it locks on the grease seal inside (not the tab ) then just applied pressure it helps to push out the air . and keep the little button is pressed on the body of gun

if you are filling manually from a grease can you need to push the body of the gun down into the Greece and pull out the plunger at the same time it's a little tricky until you get the hang of it the easiest way is just to buy the cartridges

also keep the cartridges in a warm place as those guns don't like to pump stiff Grease
don't forget to put a little light oil into the air intake as well

Problem now solved dismantled the pipe and blew it through with the air gun it was blocked with old grease that had gone hard reassembled and its working fine now thanks for your help everyone Chris
