Air receiver drain

Hi, I have two compressors one has the usual drain that you unscrew a few turns to make the floor turn brown, due to the position of this compressor it's a bit of a PITA to drain so doesn't get done as often as it should.
Compressor number 2 has a drain valve that has some kind of pin sealing in it and the bottom of the pin has a cord attached, a pull on the cord opens the valve and when it's let go the valve seals, some times it takes a couple of tugs to get it to re-seal properly but it's a lot easier than crawling between the compressors.
Does anyone know where I could buy one of these valves? I've searched the net but no luck.

screw an elbow in to the tank with a tail on one end . fit a flexible pipe to a ball valve to drain

The second one sounds like someone has fitted a safety valve to act as a drain.

Try a truck and trailer parts person. The string or wire pull is fitted to tanks under a trailer so you can drain without going underneath

Do you have to keep hold of it till the tank is empty? If you do I would soon get fed up of waiting.

Yes, you do need to keep it pulled. Truck air tanks are only small so it wouldn't be a problem but a 50+ ltr tank is another matter ! Personally I'd screw a 90 degree nylon tube adaptor in the bottom of the receiver, run a length of tube to a conveniently located ball valve to make draining easy.

Why would you want to empty the tank? It's for draining water off, a quick 5sec tug every week would do.

Thanks for the replies, tigler that looks the business I searched E Bay but never thought to look at truck parts, I'll get one ordered up tonight I'll let you know how I get on.
