I am currently using an air sander quite a lot and wondered if anything is available to reduce the noise as I want to avoid any problems with neighbours. I only use it during day but am unsure what the rules are regards noise.
The sander itself, the compressor is sited further away so not really an issue. I just wondered if a bigger exhaust silencer has much effect, it a sealey GSA 08 as below. http://www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilder.asp?id=20&method=mViewProduct&productid=15627
I just didn't want to waste my time if they don't work as it stated it has a silencer built in but it is small.
You can make reasonable noise during the day. It would be that bad once you get a little distance and outside of the confined space of garage etc. you can get an app for smart phones that gives you noise levels if your that interested
Think sander is 95 decibels in catalogue not sure if this is classed as excessive. I have been working with door open due to warm weather but might keep it shut when sanding in future.
I had a silenced Desoutter DA, it was really quiet.
I have a few silenced Desoutter air tools and they are really quiet.
The silencers are a sintered bronze plug, like the filter element in a filter.
The exhaust port is threaded for the silencer so they clearly intended
silencers to be used.
