Air source heat pump and wind turbine

Been checking planning and you can have a wind turbine under permitted development if you don’t have a heat pump and visa Versa
Are they saying you can’t have carbon free heating?
Is this planning weirdness or something sensible

Planning weirdness. If you go full planning for the ASHP you will find the only issue ever raised is noise

Daikin Altherma is what we are looking at for smaller systems. Refrigerant is in a monoblock outside, lthw pipes between the internal and external units

Why would you bother getting planning for a domestic air source? Who would know? Then get planning (PD) for the turbine.

Hi, Try watching Kris Harbour on Youtube he lives in Wales and built a wind turbine (twice, after an incident).

A bit more realistic claims than vevor!

Looking on the energy savings trust they reckon a 6kw turbine costs £33k but only saves you £510 a year. So that's a 60 year buy back!?!

All this stuff is hopeless without batteries cos it never makes it when you need it and too much when you don’t and grid tie payments aren’t even worth having

I agree with pressbrake1 the ability to store electricity is key I am hoping it is possible to lease a battery and use a small wind turbine to charge it overnight I could then look at a small solar set up to supplement it during the day. It all depends on costs.

Not everyone lives in the wilds and in residential streets a neighbour's heat pump or cooling condenser can be quite a nuisance. A cousin of mine who lives in a semi-detached bungalow had the neighbour install one right on the boundary of the two properties close to their bedroom window. All done without permission. Council made them remove it as its location deemed it a nuisance. It could easily have been installed further away but as distance equals extra cost the installer took the cheapest option.

That makes sense but the one or the other pd is strange. Surely not double the noise?

A farm near me had a wind turbine installed, about 8 or 10' diameter blade about 50' off the ground and it was absolutely useless, apparently when the company looked into it some trees a good distance away from it were causing air turbulence which was stalling it

A farm not far away on top of a hill has one 10ft diameter, supposed to make 7kw, never managed to produce over 3.5kw from the inverter data. It is always windy there so much so they even built a huge wind farm just behind it up the valley!

Batteries a must with wind, and vice versa.

I have a site lighting tower/ generator thing coming, will set it in concrete with guy ropes to be tight when its at the top.
Sat between my workshops, not quite 6m above them though..

Its going to have legs? Hope so, noisy contraption. In the right place though why not. The design is basically a crossflow turbine, used for water for eons. The wind (or water) hits the blades twice, so gives the efficiency a kick up.
Here's one (water) I had built this year, and joy of joys, will be getting FITs on it because lovely ofgem delayed the closure of the scheme by 2 years...
