Air Tank Reciver Size for 36cfm Tandem.

Can I add 270l Tank reciver to my existing 36cfm 270L compressor or should look for different size ??

Looking ing to add Air tank reciver to my Clarke Tandem 36cfm compressor. Tank on compressor is 270l and Air reciver I have found near by is slso 270L.
Setup will be used for sandblasting cabinet ( eBay one no pressured one) and spray painting in small spray booth ( refurbishing brake calipers)

THe compressor can still only deliver 36CFM. All you'll likely do is lengthen the duty cycle. By that I mean it will run longer, but also be off longer between filling the tank(s).

With 36 cfm with 270 ltr tank available, if you need more air capacity/cfm/reserve you need to look into buying a engine driven road compressor...

At the moment I'm using cheap eBay blasting cabinet that requires a lot of air so I was thinking to add extra tank so compressor will be off between the cycle. New year I will be going for pressurised Blasting cabinet which more efficient than eBay one.

As we all know more coming is better but I think 36cfm is enough for my needs at the moment just wanted to put less stress on compressor with extra tank. Only be in use 3-4 tines a week for no more than 2h a time if not less.

You can add any size tank you want, but it won't give you very long in between cycles, blasting really consumes air.
That being said 36cfm is a pretty decent machine, you should easily be able to run a cheap blast cabinet. I run a suction cabinet on two linked compressors giving about 10 cfm each.
What pressure are you running the cabinet at?

I'd suggest looking at modifying the cabinet rather than the compressor- there are quite a few modifications you can do which will drastically improve the performance and reduce the amount of air required.
Ditching the pickup tube and swapping over the media mixing valve with foot pedal will make a big difference. - you should be able to get more blasting action at a lower pressure without clogging.

I did it myself, but with a smaller compressor. It only really gives you longer blasting sessions without having to stop, but then you have to leave longer between sessions for it all to fill up.
I added an electric fan to the compressor to keep it cool as it was literally running non stop.

I also did that to my arc welder to improve the ‘duty cycle’. It worked well.

It will have the opposite effect as the pumps will need to run longer to fill the extra volume increasing the temperature of the pumps, it may even exceed the duty cycle of the pumps and cause more wear

Install a smaller air jet and nozzle on the suction gun until you get the pressure blaster.

I use a sand blast cabinet with my tandem compressor. ABAC 270L single phase.

It keeps up easily running a 6mm nozzle flat out. So I also do not see any benefit in adding another tank to a tandem compressor.

totaly pointless adding a tank for blasting . it will expire in minutes and the comp will take twice as long to replenish. it only works on stuff that just need that extra bit of air on shortish use
