Hey folks just thought I'd let ya see how I converted my welding mask to an airfed setup
Before I start, I'm not saying this is an approved mask but I works great in my opinion and is fully functional. I built this as I have been welding a lot of galv steel and it keeps giving me a bad cough for a few days after, so I set about changing things.
I have a devilbiss airfed mask for spraying which is extremely simple when you strip it down
So here's my spraying mask

Here's the welding mask all stripped down

Safety sticker had to go

A sheet of wetsuit neoprene

Face hole all cut out, I made the hole roughly the same size as my spraying mask I just made it a little shorter as the 4 way adjustment strap is different to my spray mask

Velcro all stuck down on the mask itself

After about 10 minutes of playing around lining up the neoprene with the Velcro I got it all roughly marked out

Got me feminine side out and stitched the corners together and then stitched all the Velcro on to the neoprene

All trimmed up at set it the mask, fitting takes less than a minute to line the Velcro up

Air is supplied to the mask through the same tube from my spray mask which fits nicely in through the top of the mask, until I get another tube and fitting.

The air coming to the mask is filtered through my 3 stage breathing filters here, I built a strong case from 3mm chequer plate for my filters as when welding I don't want them getting damaged.

Let me know what you think?
I've used it and it works great, just as good as my spraying mask and no fumes in my lid. It cost me about £12 for materials. Well except the air filters and the spray mask, but for those of you that have them it's an easy job and it's not a permanent modification either.
