Hello,

I have noticed that people tend to fit hose line direct to there air tank rather than use the quick relese air outlet provided on the compressor. Is there a reson for this?

The supplied regulators can be quite restrictive so they take the air at tank pressure to a remote regulator near where the spray gun or air tools are to be used.

So ..you get air flow when hose comes out of the tank as apposed to the fitting supplied?

Im gona get a book compressors for dummies...if they do one.

Yes the hose would be at tank pressure which is why you would need a remote filter/regulator.

I prefer to connect a gate valve or ball vale first before the airline, which means you can shut it off if you happen to get a puncture in your airline, you don't really want full tank pressure on a flexible hose all the time in my opinion.

Some of the regulators and taps fitted to compressors have very small bores. If you start to draw air at any rate then no matter what you have the regulator set at you get less pressure because you simply can't get the air through that small bore fast enough.

If you connect your hose direct to the tank (through a larger bore tap ideally) then you have the biggest bore possible for as long as possible. You then stick a regulator on the bottom of the tool (or inline near it if it would make the tool unwieldy) and drop the pressure to what you want to work with as late as possible in the system.

That does make sense to me, i'll use the outlets provided for now and convert to tank feed later when i understand more and know what purchase.
The trouble im having is finding a supplier local where i can just pop in for some help. It's all done by post at the moment.

better to just get a regulator / filter that can cope with the air flow you require

Rainham ..how far are you from Harlow ,cos there is or was Ray Moss air tools and they are were good for that kind of stuff ....jeff...
