Airmaster 14/100P

Hi all,

I recently purchased an Airmaster 14/100P from Machine Mart, and the instructions state "Ensure the oil level is between the min and max marks on the sightglass." However, the sightglass has no min/max markings on it.

It does have a red circle, but from what I can see, the oil level is beyond the sight glass (as in, literally above the very outer most part of the sight glass, not just the red circle or the inner glass circle).

My question is, is this to be expected on a new unit? I've not turned the compressor on yet. Where should the oil level be?

I can’t help with the oil level but I doubt a new compressor would ship with oil in, mine came with a sealed bottle of oil when i got mine.

I bought the exact compressor above last year for a job and it does indeed ship filled with oil

Our compressors are shipped dry. you do need to put oil in them. (surprisingly large amount of people don't realise this) give the store a bell if you need a quick answer. as I'm off for a few days now.

It came with stickers saying it had no oil and to fill before use but definitely was full on removal from packing crate. I wasn’t expecting much from it to be honest from it for the price. The wheels etc are useless, but I priced it in with a job and expected it to be written off in use however it ran two professional needle guns for a couple of days with no issues and is still in good condition.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that sounds about right. Mine is exactly the same, stickers suggesting there was no oil but in fact it came factory filled.

On a side note, I've now had it running - there's a steady stream of air coming from the oil breather vent hole while running (along with tiny amounts of "smoke"), is this to be expected? Apologies for all the questions, but don't want to get stuck with a faulty unit! Not sure how much air venting during operation is considered normal.
