Airmate AM10/60 (machinemart)

Hi all, excellent site, learnt so much from you guys, followed your tutorials on mig welding, now done quite a few hours!
Help please: was looking for a 50ltr compressor and have obtained Airmate am 10/60 belt drive. Seems to run well, says MWP 150 psi but otherwise no spec?
It's blue machinemart colour but they don't have spec either? Tried net but nothing? Would anybody have detail cfm etc.
Also, to run small shot blast cabinet says req 10 bar? Does hp have an influence or is it the pump size that produces pressure?

Generally speaking more HP means more CFM, but basically HP = CFM x PSI so you can have more CFM at less PSI or vice-versa for a given HP.

2 HP is about 9 CFM, 3 HP about 14 (ballpark figures)

MWP is maximum working pressure, this is a safety level, the relief valve should blow at slightly above this.

Your compressor wont run a bead blast cabinet properly, the tank is too small, as is the pump and motor I would guess. Contrary to popular belief CFM figures often quoted by people like Machine Mart are pretty meaningless, and you need to look at "FAD" which is free air delivery, and is relevant to the air tools or equipment you want to use.

Hi, thanks for replies, interesting. Anybody have any spec on my AM 10/60 compressor? Sure it'll only just do job but well see.. Guage says 10bar when shuts off!

MG man - what's the horsepower (or kW) of the motor? That'll be on a small plate on the motor itself if not shown elsewhere.

For this machine, a fair guide to cfm FAD is 3 per horsepower.

Note that what machine mart tend to quote is a perfect figure of if the cylinder sucked in and discharged all of its air, in reality, just like a car the compressor has a volumetric efficiency, probably around 65%, so in real terms a comp rated the machine mart way at 14cfm probably delivers around 9 cfm FAD.

Looked at motor, good suggestion, 2hp but other plate says max pressure 150psi. Gauge goes up to thick side of 10bar.
Very quiet I'll give it that..

A compressor that small would a bead blast cabinet for a very short while, but its going to be running continuously, and progress will be very slow indeed.
