AirMate WM39 connector issue

Not been on the forum for a while - well since 2009. Good to see my ID still exists and works unlike many other forums that have come and gone or changed. I still have and regularly use my faithful Sealey 160 SuperMig - keeps all our old cars alive.

Bought myself a little Airmate WM39 compressor. It's probably 35+ years old but cleaned it up and seems to work fine. Will only be used for light duties like blowing the dirt and dust off the MX5 parts I refurbish. Compressor was bare so bought a very cheap hose kit off ebay - all great aside from I cannot fit the standard BSP Quick Coupler with approx 1/2 inch female thread to the compressor male output. Pitch appears the same but it is just a tiny bit too big to fit into the standard close coupler. Will try to attach someone else's photo showing several of these old connectors in this case fitted to the ancilliaries as well as output. Can anybody with a long memory help me to find a converter or suggest another solution please.

just wait a little while......Aldi / Lidal will have the air connectors in sets and quite cheap.....
very good value......I use em now instead of the very expensive Swedish one's I used to have....
think a ally block with 1 male connector and 3 or 4 females was a fiver.....other stuff as well all interchangeable.......
my good lady just buy's em when they are in.....have a fair few for stock....
well worth the wait.....
normally announced on here where our kinda specials are stocked....

Cheap hose and parts
There certainly seem to be some good cheap and cheerful accessories/fittings around.
Would have been everything I need and more except that the old airmate connector does not fit to 1/4" BSP.
Looks like the original Airmate hose had some sort of slot in fittings that paired with the problematic connector.

sorry perhaps I should have said to remove all the original connectors....they had some kinda slot in with a ring screw to hold the air line in.....never had a lot of time for such stuff......I run 2 airlines and until recently a fixed metal (galv) piped system around the shop....now removed for the impending move.....
anyway glad ur sorted.......

Unfortunately I am not sorted. If you look at the picture of the airmate(scroll down on link in first post) you can see the problem. The stub pipe with the tap and male thread to the left of the gauges. It threads into an aluminium body so I would rather not try to remove it. As the pitch is the same perhaps I would get away with running a BSP die over the thread to reduce it.

That tap looks ancient and might have been fitted by someone who just used what was to hand. It might be anything, like a gas thread or who knows.

I had to bodge this with a 1/4" BSP die. Had hoped to find a connector but it seems the airmate system was perhaps unique with a non standard thread. Took it to a refreshingly old fashioned engineering company called R Soper and son near me in East Allington.
The original airmate hose was fitted with slide in fittings, so without the hose everything else that fits to the hose at either end would need to be converted.
Compressor working well now and worth every penny of the £15 I paid for it:-)
