ALDI 2.5 Hp Compressor

In Cramlington Branch today ( Sunday 14th) Aldi 21/2 Hp Compressors reduced to £69.99.

dont know how much they were originally. Seems a good enough buy if you just need a bit occasional blast of compressed air, maybe your nearest branch has them reduced as well.

I've got one of these.
Looks identical to one of the sip ones costing double the price.

Works fine, twin outlet (one unregulated) with reasonable reg.

Keep a look out for the filter/reg they also sell and the kit with several air tools in it (same as a kit sold by tool station but cheaper).

Took mine to work to use when our 200 litre one was out of service that usually runs all the tools and a ramp. Coped well all considering. A little hot under constant use but that was pressurising roughly 30 foot of 1\2" pipeline before the tools. Way more than its designed for really.

I've had one for a few years, now and its definately been used (and abused) I can't fault it really,although it does cut out after an hour or so of continuous use. if select tools that have low air requirements or (reduce the working pressure to about 70psi) you can use them for grit blasting, use an air cut off tool or needle scaler, as well as painting.

I bought one of these a few months back and can not fault it. Runs my impact wrench, ratchet, and cut off tool very well. It does drain pretty quickly under constant use being only 24L, but for a home mechanic I don't think it's a problem

Bargain at £70 with the 3 year warranty. We have one but have only used it for tyre inflation and cleaning so far. I did buy the grit blasting kit when they were selling them off but the compressor isn't up to the job.

I bought one a couple of months back, at £65.

Was in the local Aldi (Gorgie, Edinburgh) today and they had three "excess" stock, reduced to £50. Bargain. Well worth popping into your local Aldi in case they have the same units on clearance.

I also bought one a few years ago(think it was when I moved in here where I am?) cleaned the shed out and blew away the cobwebs and dust,took it back the next day and got me money back telling em it was pants.

Mines about 5 years old now, done some spraying with it, tyre inflation and use the blow gun a fair bit for cleaning out odds and ends... good machine for the price but noisy as hell is the only downside

Agreed, I was surprised how loud it was. I haven't used mine for spraying yet. Would be interested to know what you have sprayed with it and how it went.

Done a fair bit of 'not important' stuff, gates, railings, fence panels, garage door etc, but also done a couple of bike tanks and car panels with excellent results.

Thanks for the info, Steve. I was planning to use it to refurb my alloy wheels and possibly to spray Aldi metal paint. I was a bit concerned that it wouldn't have the grunt to keep going, even with a smart repair gun.

I've had one for about 10 years too, and it does almost everything I need from a compressor. Superb for impact wrench, ratchet, drill, saw, tyre inflation etc. Runs out of puff a bit doing die grinding or grit blasting, but if you take it slow and steady you get the job done. Not bad for spray painting either, seems to be able to keep up as long as the pressure's not too high. As much as anything I use the blow gun for cleaning sawdust out of my chainsaw most weekends

For the requirements of the average home diy-er it's spot on. Yes, you wouldn't want to attempt to spray a whole car with it, or descale a rusty canal boat, but for the price you can't argue.

I am sure it will do the wheels fine, I also used one of the smart repair guns for all my spraying.

I used Aldi metal paint on the gates etc, just thinned it down with white spirit, I also have a few ebay cheapie airbrushes that I use with the comp, they are great for small work where you don't want to mix too much paint at a time.

It's easy to be critical of such a machine but it's not pretending to be a professional compressor, it's a hobby/home use item and for the price is a bargain in my opinion.

Thanks, guys. Lidl were selling their Parkside mini guns for £10 the other week so got one of those. I also got the spot blaster and air saw from Aldi but don't feel the comp really has enough power for them. Maybe need to have a good long go with them and check that I have everything set up correctly.
