I bought a can of it a year or two back and was well impressed. Anyone know if its resistant to petrol ?

I've just bought a tin of the Screwfix "No Nonsense" metal paint and it's not a patch on the Lidl "Baufix" stuff.
I only bought it as I'd forgotten I had a tin of the Lidl stuff.

Some Screwfix No Nonsense stuff ok, but not tried the metal paint yet

Generally Aldi or Lidl have it in often enough for what i need

Good paint,glad its back,just one tip though,if you want to paint it on very smooth surfaces(esp metal) key/rough the surface up first,then a thinned 1st coat then a good top coat
Last lot i got was celly based,this still the same?

I'll have to try some; I've been using Rustoleum spray paint, but even after metal prep, 2 coats of primer and 2-3 coats of top coat the slightest knock and it comes off.

I'm in the market for a bit of metal paint. Any Ideas what colours it comes in

Over the months I've seen white, black, silver and dar green bourbon

Compared to Hammerite its a bargain and IMO just as hard wearing

Used Hammerite years ago to do a bike frame and it turned out lovely, like glass, but the slightest knock and off it came, useless.

I last used it on sump of 1993 reg Astra, sump was starting to rust from stone chips etc

Thought hammerite might make it a bit tougher, i was wrong, same experience as you mate

Other good points with the Aldi/Lidl stuff is a little goes a long way and brushes clean with white spirits

It doesn't smell like celly, it doesn't smell much at all in fact.

Bonus then. I refuse to buy Hammerite brush cleaner and I'm fed up of binning cheap brushes when I've finished. I have white spirit in stock

I have used this paint for quite a while and found it to be very good at just one coat over bare metal, For some reason my local store seems to get mainly white each time.with Green and silver only occasionally, They used to have a good variety of colours previously,

I painted my gates with Lidl black paint,it loses it's shine and goes a bit grey after a few months outside.
On the plus side it's cheap enough for me not to care.

I did half my metal gates with a tin of the Aldi black metal paint. Seemed thin and difficult to apply. Changed to the aerosols and what a difference - went on really easily and didn't need recoating and so much easier to apply.

In retrospect, I should have keyed the surface more thoroughly as that might explain why the tinned paint didn't seem to stick so well. I have also used the aerosols on my car restoration - the car is black so I have used it over the welding where it won't be seen, like the boot and engine bay. Dries very hard to a semi gloss and a few years in has not flaked or chipped off. Highly recommended.
