Aluminium Oxide Media Blasting - Grit size?

Hi all

Have just bought a 3HP compressor and grit gun so I can blast all the paint and rust off my old van.

Seems that aluminium oxide is the most effective and safest way to go, but does anyone know what grit size would be best?

MachineMart sell either 80 or 120 grit which is £42 for 22kg so was thinking one of these may be suitable..

Can anyone tell me which is best for a '68 Citroen HY Van with a steel corrugated body?

Any advice much appreciated as I'm new to this.

For a start I'd use J-Blast Supa fine, about £7 per 25Kg.

I'm worried by "Grit Gun" - if it's one of those with a small container beneath it I wouldn't even bother trying to blast a whole vehicle with it. I only use mine for doing small bits I miss with my blast pot setup.

Have a good read in this section, there's loads and loads on gritblasting.
