hey guys, got a wee problem and wondered what you opinion is. i have a 150litre 4hp sip compressor, kestral 3 stage filter and a air fed mask set up, i have my 1.4 spray gun connected to the spare outlet on the air fed mask belt. when i tryed to spray with it it would not attomise properly unless i put the fan adjustment to spot spray, so i pulled out my 2.0 nozzle primer gun and it worked great, far too much paint and i got runs but never the less it gave a good finish. i tryed removing the spray gun hose from the belt and tried running it direct from the compressor and it made no difference. i had a similar problem in the past with my old tired compressor, i was spraying water based paint and the flow kept cutting in and out leaving dry patches, i had a pro sprayer check all the parts and he couldnt find anything wrong with paint, filters, needle, nozzle etc, he also said i had it adjusted correctly. im wondering if the gun was damaged or if i maybe dont clean my guns correct. this is how i clean my guns,
after use i fill with a bit of thinners, shake it round the pot and then spray it through, i then clean the pot until free from paint and then fill it again and spray some more thinners through, then i remove needle and cap and soak in thinners, then rebuild with a little oil on the needle slide part. then i give it one final spray through with thinners and put it away.
the one that gave me the problem with water based was a fairly old gun that had been used for priming and was maybe a bit tired or blocked up, but my new sealey 1.4mm one that i mentioned has only been used once.
please let me know your thoughts, im tempted to sell them all and buy a couple of £10 hvlp guns on ebay as all my other guns are non hvlp
