An old idea gets resurrected

New/old idea comes out of the woodwork.
For years I have been toying with the idea of making some semi abstract sculptures based on Neolithic cave art. I have always loved the bold lines and strength of the images. I have just been asked if I can make a small herd of deer and can I make them slightly abstracted rather than too literal. Just what I have been looking for. I cant draw for a toffee but my customer trusts me and liked the idea so I have made a small sample for him to approve. I have not fitted four legs, this is just a sketch in metal, but I think I have got the idea about right.

Not sure yet, I think he wants them life sized, but what flavour of deer?
I think I will have to play about with the idea anyway.

Cave art style, now that's a really old idea.

It looks really good, the overlaping bars between the leg and the body give a sense of depth.

How do you plan to finish them?

Nice idea to go with the cave art theme and shapes, but I would prefer to see them as per the cave drawing on a single flat plane with no overlapping pieces, Just my thoughts.

Nowadays, with a .308".
Back then, probably run them off a cliff or jump them with a club.

Gordon, the original idea was to plasma cut them out of sheet, but then they get more expensive and getting them to be free standing could be more hassle.
I also like the way the lines flow with bent strip.
Finish? we are going to let them rust which suits the critter. They are going to go ina little corner of his paddock which he can see from his office.
That is if he says yes.
