Another bike project…..TL1000S

Just collected another 90’s retro bike from Preston. The venerable Suzuki TL1000S. The original widow maker.
It’s has a few cracks and scratches but it’s all there and on the button.
In my eyes anything less than a grand is a bargain even if it needs a few bits.
It’s wearing Remus cans not Akras as badged but it seems like a reasonable buy. I’m not gonna go through this on with a fine tooth comb, rather just tidy it up and enjoy the summer.

Nice, I always fancied a TL1000R but never got around to it, I do look on market place and ebay from time to time .

that engine goes straight into a 748 frame , with a very simple bracket kit ,,,,, now theres a combo.

Rotary damper was the big culprit of waywardness! Sounded like a good idea in principle but never seemed to work in reality - a mate of mine had one, and the follow up R version. He reckoned the R was much easier to ride despite being, on the face of it, the more sporty bike…

I rode a mates TL1000R many years ago. Aggressive engine. When pulling wheelies you had to be on-the-ball - it'd hoist so aggressively it'd try and whack your forehead with the headstock & loop out - enough power to lift it & it wasn't exactly... progressive - more an attempted punch in the face.
A proper hoot to ride - kept you on your toes.
It'll never be boring!

My had one sounded lovely I rode it once never again front end felt super twitchy was scary to ride fast but even worse going slowly just wanted to lay over in corners

I owned an MT10……a bike that could lift the front wheel in fifth gear with a little coaxing….addictive! I’d go out thinking I’ll behave myself today and within 5 mins be wheelieing past cars

That's why I sold the R1, I'm a racer at heart and just can't behave...

Yes you can ,especially if 1/2 a second before you realise that you braked about 25 yards too late.

Actually they work better if you are airborne it's just that they don't stop you.
The Adrenaline rush of getting away with it is the biggest high of all.
