I have had this cabinet for years and it's got very light occasional use for brake caliper cleaning etc.
(This was after I cleaned it up today the shelf was black)
First issue was air compressor not up to job. That is no longer the case as I now have ample clean, dry air to power the cabinet. My ABAC tandem compressor in loft can charge up and cut off again with it running full time on a 5mm nozzle.
The other main issue is visibility. And now I want to address that. My theory.
I relocated the air inlet to the front today so I can move the cabinet over to suit where I'd like to stand and to allow room for my new Milwaukee M18 Hoover on the other side.
Now placed so there is space for the extraction vacuum on the left side of shelf. Note the ebay cyclone filter thing too:
There are currently 2no air filters on the cabinet which I cleaned today. On right side and on the rear.
I previously connected a vacuum to the right inlet and it didn't work. The gloves inflated out inside and it hardly cleared any dust at all as no air movement.
So I plan to use the M18 vacuum now (small and can sit on shelf beside it) and allow for (hopefully) cross air changes in the cabinet.
So with the vacuum connected via the cyclone filter on the left front side, air should pull in through the 2no filters and allow the airborne paint / rust debris to be pulled out of the cabinet during use.
Does this sound OK? Happy to take on board comments.
It is not used very often say just once a month for 10 mins. But enough that it bugs me when A: it puts black dust out in the garage and B: I can't see what I'm blasting during use.
This should solve both problems hopefully. And the M18 vacuum may prove useful for other tasks in my garage so it's not just for this but in my mind is a decent solution for my use level. And shouldn't be too strong to cause issues in this application.
I also do not have floor space to set up a shop vac for this and it would likely be too strong.
