Another Blast Pot Mod!

This is an uprated funnel for filling the "Ebay" blast pots.

Ingredients:

Small propane &c gas bottle
1-1/4 BSP male (OD) reducing bush
1-1/4 BSP Female/Female lever operated ball valve


This is what you do:

Prepare the bottle by purging and remove the valve
Cut the bottom off the bottle
Weld the bush to the top of the bottle over the hole
Enlarge the hole using a holesaw guided by the bush
Fix the valve to the pot using PTFE tape and position the handle facing the operator and so that the handle goes down to open the valve
Trim the handle so the valve will open fully
Screw the funnel into the top of the valve

so the valve can be opened to let air out as the grit flows in

Make sure the grit valve is clear of grit before operating to reduce wear.

Just used this in anger and it's a vast improvement.

I sieve my grit into a 5 litre bucket and I had to stand over the original plastic funnel and keep topping it up whereas with this I just lob the whole 5 ltres in and refill the bucket while the pot fills.

Hi rt while researching improvements I could make to my small blasting pot I came across this post of yours have to say this would be very useful as filling my pot is a pain in the backside so if you don't mind a couple of questions I hope you will be able to answer for me before I follow your idea, what size gas bottle did you start with also do you leave this on all the time in use or only for filling then remove a use the standard cap thing with the small bar ? thanks for your advice
