Hoi Hoi another chunkular production.
This one is cynically aimed at blokes who buy things they want as gifts for their wives. I can just imagine the conversation '' Wouldn't he look lovely in Your garden''.
Modelled on Lightnin' Hopkins, my favourite accoustic blues singer, a great singer and a humourist, sang some of the best wife murdering songs ever. O gt my boy in trouble a few weeks back, he came home asking what blues singers sing about. Oh says Pa '' Killing your wife, beating your wife, killing yourself, sex, drinking and leaving home'' I did not realise it was for his homework. Ho Hum.

Dont use sketches, I cant draw for a toffee. Very frustrating and embarrassing when I have a potential customer wanting a drawing, it is getting better but they still look they are done by my 12 year old boy. A very common thing amongst sculptors and other artists working in 3D. Odd that cant draw it but can make it no problems.
To get the lines for this one I sat there playing the blues on my broom, I use myself to get all the lines in the right places. I must look bonkers, sat there strumming along to John Lee Hooker, checking the angles in my legs and arms and talking to myself, then running off to bend a small piece of bar and check it against my leg.

I was well pleased with his tatty old hat.

how did you make the hands, is it bits of sheet metal, backs of the hands i mean. looks great mate. is it stainless? the bit on the guitar looks like m/s flatbar. what mm rod you used?

Scotty, I have half thought of making a piece like that, to hang on the wall of my workshopstudiosheddything. I think the artists torso appearing out of the wal might look good. One day.....

The hands? they are made of 6mm bar for the fingers, and 8mm for the thumbs, I cut them to size, spot weld them together then weld in the webbing between the fingers,and use a piece of 3mm strip for the bit between the thumb and the rest of the fingers. Easier to make than it looks, they would also make great coat hangers.

Wait what am I doing? giving away trade secrets.

The Hopkins sculpture is mild steel which I am rusting, I cant see him being all shiny shiny stainless, though I have made these pieces in stainless I prefer the softer less agressive look of rusted mild steel.
