Now this neighbour’s a good un. His Son bought a house and asked his Dad, my neighbour, to go and have a look. I get a call saying he got the door open but can’t get the key out of the euro lock.
Sure enough it won’t come out. uNLESS you lock the door while it’s open! But then you can’t close the door unless you now unlock the door from the inside and then close it and lock it from the inside. Then you can get the key out from the inside too.
I can’t see anything wrong except if I take the euro lock out, the cam which usually sits just out of position by a few degrees, is actually sitting at about 120 degrees in the position where you can remove the key.
I’m wondering if someone changed the euro lock and has just lived with this problem.
I can’t find a similar euro lock with the cam in this unusual position so I might just get one and try it.
Any ideas?
Seems to be a theme developing for me here as I’ve now been asked to sort out two garage door locks.
I don’t believe in ghosts but when I was young I knew a bloke called Alfie Green who taught me quite a bit about locks and how to open them. Turns out he was a top safe cracker but usually got caught due to his modus operandi. Police used to go round and say ‘It’s one of yours Alfie.’ Just wondering if he’s come back to haunt me.
