Another sculpture class

I had some friends over at the weekend to have a go at sculpture making.
They were all a bit nervous having no experience at all of welding or metal working.
Wendy, Holly and kate a bit nervous at the start.

Wendy and Holly bending up some flat strips.

Kate welding, she was managing to weld 3mm gas rods onto 8mm bars.

Holly with the horses head she did all of the bending and welding herself. Cracking picture.

Love the Music staff-- could even be a tune in there. Nice. Horse is a goodun as well

There is a tune in there, she plays in an orchestra and agonised over getting it right, Wendy is another musician.
it will be embarassign if theyhave got it wrong. I will check which piece of music it is.

It's a great thing to do and a great way to get to knwo people.
The photo of Holly makes it all worthwhile.

we can all do this.
I get people to make small bridge tacks then two small tacks, then a bead of weld about 5" long then a butt weld about an inch long and we are making stuff.
It is great.

I think I have got as much out of this as the people coming along.
I had a very strange few months, becoming single, breaking my stupid back etc.
Doing this has sorted me out, a few weeks back I just wanted to hide, these lovely people have got me out of that mode.
And I have had a ball in their company. And got paid for it.

We downloaded some clipart images, Holly bent all the strips herself, 20x5mm strip by hand at 11 years old!!
Ok using a metalcraft tool but still a mega effort.

We used a creepy guy we know as the target of this aggression, a very effective way of focussing it.
