Another welding bench......yawn

relatively new to forum, seen lots of these posts of new benches, had to share mine, open to suggestions for improvements or add-ons,


Been meaning to make one of these for ages,

Ordered some 10mm plate steel yesterday, picked it up this afternoon and got cracking!

It's 1000x600mm, sturdy as hell and a proper job, welder on its max, just as I was about to do my last bead of the day it cut out

Need some more box section to tie in the legs and make a foot rest in the centre,
Once it's done I'm going to have a shift round in the workshop. I'm going to remove my large and too high bench , as I just fill it with crap and don't put anything away! This smaller table may make me be a little
More tidy, well that's the plan

unusual layout of the Box section /legs. Are you fitting adjustable feet, I think they are a must as not just for levelling you can also fit castors and then raise them off the ground so the bench don't move till you want it to. Like this

Nice sturdy well made bench. often good to leave a couple of inches over-hang on the table top to aid with clamping, What happened to the chain guard from the rolling machine? Or is that the next job on the project list?

Looks well built. I agree with the post above it's always better to have an over hang of the top plate at least at the front. I've got 100mm overhang on mine (also 10mm but a bit bent now) another story) I regularly clamp work to the front of the bench on this 100mm stretch of metal.

I have left a 2" lip on the front and A bit in the sides. I've never needed anymore than that for work I've done up to now, definitely agree with adjustable feet, I've got to sort some for the new mill too

Need to mive the linisher stand as thats where lathe is moving to i think, also have another clarke stand with 8" grinder for polishing wheel etc
