Another welding virgin

Good afternoon Ladies and gents Ive been lurking here for quite a while and I knew of this forum for a long while before I registered .

Its about time I said hello and indeed put my welder which I have had for over 12 months to some use

I am currently at the end of my recent project and I needed four bolts to hold it down , the only ones I had were much too long and I was in no mood for a trip to the shops so I decided to chop them down and weld some nuts on the end to make new short bolts

They are not he prettiest welds but they will do the job and hold the engine to the trolley .

The welder I own was bought for me at Christmas 2007 by my late wife

I am a complete novice when it comes to using the machine but I have learned loads from this forum

Hi Steve and welcome. Liking the motor, what sort of thing would it have powered originally?

Nice looking D I have one myself, I need a mag for it but not chain drive, shaft drive, any ideas thanks

My Lister D was originally one half of a generating set

The restoration of it and various other parts of my collection can be seen here The website hasnt been updated for a long time though


If you have a stationary engine or indeed need parts or advice about them then Here is the place to look , You will find me on this forum as one of the moderators ( the wild eye)


As for the neighbours appreciating good engineering ,. "Not a chance " the only engineering they are interested in is how to keep the beer cold

You might just be in luck. I've got a Lister mag in the workshop somewhere. I'll have a hunt.
