Anvil base

[Peloquin]

An old anvil base has just come into my ownership. Weighs a ton. It's a fair old beast and I'm wondering what to do with it.
I'm not sure if to leave it as is, clean and repaint it or sell it.
What sort of price do they sell for ?(12"high, 20" at the bottom of the base, 14" top of the base).
It looks nice as is but I don't really have anywhere to put it so might just sell it on.

Still a good thing, if you have a swage block to fit it.

I don't. I just liked it then realised I won't be shifting it around much.

I am agreeing with the swage block stand. Is that what the funny shaped hole and the 'ears' are for - to hold the swage block?

It is a bit low for anvil. I have just made one and mine was 390, and that's a decent size anvil so its pretty high to start with. About 400 if I recall.

make a nice planter stand ,,,, no one will nick it ,,, and if anyone is big enough to pick it up to steal it

I was thinking planter stand but no room for it ... Terraced house with postage stamp garden.

What sort of price do these fetch? The more I think about it the more I lean towards selling and avoiding broken toes.

What are the dimensions for the aperture? Size of internal square, width of those two cutouts.

If it fits my swage block I might be interested.

You can see the block can fit square on top or on edge. From that you should be able to work out the required dimensions. Cheers.

Yes, lifting very carefully or easy to lose a finger. I was going to fit a sort of pry bar underneath but increasingly what I need is some sort of portable lifting device. I managed to find a ”wind up trolley” sort of thing which I can fit a crane hook to.

I don’t move the block as much as I’d like for that reason. It must be 100lbs/50kg +

Before anyone asks, I don’t need another stand but the lower height would be handy in my height limited forge space.
