Any advice on compressor purchase?

Could any of you old hands give your verdict on the following?My main considerations are:
100 litre tank maximum due to space restrictions
Belt drive hoping it will be a little quieter due to moaning neghbour restrictions
Slower running motor(assuming slower means possibly quieter)

Havent got Hydrovane money.The following 3 are all a similar price(have noticed I could easily pay this sort of price second hand so maybe a new one with warranty would be a safer bet)?
Which (if any)would you recommend?If you are selling a better bargain please let me know:

They are all much the same in performance. Is that your budget ? If so, I'd go for secondhand. You will get more and better for your money and as long as you are careful no warranty isn't really an issue. There's a really nice little Ingersoll Rand 234 on ebay ATM, only problem is it's 3 phase ! Real pity as you wouldn't buy better for any price !
In fact, it might even be worth buying it, changing the motor to a single phase and recovering some of you outlay by selling the 3 phase.

I see your point and the Rand 234 looks the business.The description is very vague but the tank looks too big for my needs(I know bigger is better but I havent the room),and it looks like a 240v 3HP motor would struggle turning that pump.Plus its a 500 mile round trip from me ;-).

What rpm does the motor on the compressor you have now run at. Remember these haven't got a slower running motor, a slower running pump as opposed to a direct drive yes, but still 2800 rpm motor. they might be as noisy if not noisier than what you have already.

It's actually identical to mine, I think the tank is 150 ltr. It's designed for a 3hp motor, mine is the single phase version. I know what you mean about the distance, I went about the same for mine ! Then this turns up in Gloucester which is about 40 miles down the road !! I'm almost tempted to have it myself and link them to double my air capacity when I need it ! You could have it collected on a pallet ?

Yes, that is the pumps speed the motor speed will be 2800 as they are two pole motors.

Ref your noise issues, once you get your replacement comp why not build a sound deading box around it (allowing for cooling air flow) maybe some of that wall insulation stuff, about 2" thick, also recall mention on the forum of people quieting the air intake as a lot of the noise comes from there so I understand. Search for "compressor inlet filter" maybe? Reason I say to quiet it down is because your neghbour will be listening caerfully in furture esp if he sees another comp coming up the drive

Yes I intend to soundproof it.I also save all the painting up for when its windy or raining or both as the fallout and smell dissipate better.

I see the Rand 234 compressor mentioned above has been removed from fleabay - must have sold it!
I threw a bid of £110 on, just out of interest, and didn't meet the reserve, as expected.....

Well I took the plunge and bought the Axminster comp.Small footprint,gives 8cfm@90psi,ad says its quiet and theyre selling the last few off at £228 inc delivery so it was too good to resist.
