Think the MST are a bit more sensibly priced tooI suspect they've seen what MST ( https://mst-cars.com/models ) are doing and want a piece of the action!
Not an Escort but a Capri. My father in law had one of the first Escorts off the line as a company car, the family were off to Germany to stay with friends the following week, so the dealer said “run it around for a few days to let it settle down, bring it back so we will give it a check over before you go” he took it in, got it checked, the mechanic took it out to test & promptly ran up the back of another car! The body shop worked all night to sort it out as best they could & sorted it properly when they got back. When they were in Germany people were all over the Escort as no-one had seen one yet, I don’t think it had been introduced there yet. I still remember the car, 2 door in Saluki bronze, a step up from the Angleboxes he had previously.
That would have been the same V4 2 litre lump as the one in my 2000E Corsair. But the 3 ltr version was quite a beast in it's day!Not an Escort but a Capri.
Very similar to my experience as a young boy, summer of 69 Dad was one of the first to purchase a 2L GT Ford Capri, very few had seen one, we took it to Spain and caused 2 accidents, drivers eyeing/admiring the car instead of on the road.
Later that year in Paris, same thing but a 3L GT, could it shift, happy memories.
Did they put the asthmatic old v4 i the capri did they? Never knew that..That would have been the same V4 2 litre lump as the one in my 2000E Corsair. But the 3 ltr version was quite a beast in it's day!
I hope these escorts are better than the 73 1300 E I had. 9 years old and rotten….when I grew up a bit I had a 280 Capri, fabulous carThat would have been the same V4 2 litre lump as the one in my 2000E Corsair. But the 3 ltr version was quite a beast in it's day!

Spin the wheels in 3rd in a wet day, top as well if it was a bit greasy, the old Essex engine had loads of low down grunt! A customer where I worked had one & let me have a drive in it, it was a bit lethal in the wet, we used to joke 125mph going out, but 20mph in the hearse coming back! But the 3 ltr version was quite a beast in it's day!
