Anyone buy or build a CNC PLASMA kits

I have been looking into it for a while. I now have a CNC engraver so I can get used to Mach3 and other stuff at a cheaper price. I also now have a plasma and my plan has always been to build a quarter size CNC table for it. SO over the next few months I will be watching with interest.

Yes it was me!! I designed and built my own plasma CNC and use it almost everyday now. I did try and market a kit but there was hardly any interest so I gave up. I can supply the main plates to build your own machine using off the shlf parts but it is a steep learning curve and you need to have both mechanical and some electronic skills.....but when you do get it working it is magical!!

Hi Stuart...at first I had an RTech 40amp but it gave me nothing but problems with the CNC electronics.....I almost gave up trying to get the CNC to work not realising it was the RTech causing all the problems!

I then bought a little Hypertherm Powermax 30amp. Wow!!! This (expensive) little plasma is amazing. Runs off a normal 13 amp plug and cuts to perfection.....I cannot fault it. It has no effect at all on the CNC and just works. I mainly cut 1.5, 2, and 3mm sheet so I never use more than 20amps so the little 30 is fine for my needs. Thats a little disconcerting as I have just got an R-teg plasma with a view to building a CNC bed for it... @doubleboost . We need to find out whats causing the issues and get R-tech to see what can be done.

I talked to r tec today very helpful as usual to see about a plasma for cnc and they do cnc friendly machines. He did say the the hand cut plasma are not suitable. so you don't only need a hypertherm
