anyone know anything about vertical form fill seal machines?

I have an Illapack... erm... I forgot to check for model numbers etc. :-o


anyway.... anyone work with these?

bought it at auction about a year ago, it's about time I got it up and running

I need to source a thinner neck for it, but after that I think it's good to go

only problem is... there's a password to change any settings, and I have no idea what it is

and I have no idea at all how to feed the roll of plastic into it and/or set that up


I could do with some pointers etc..

happy to pay someone to come and show me... just not keen on the people most companies send out (salesment not tech people)

Used to work on a Sandicare machine same idea as yours. Can't help too much other than to suggest trying basic passwords like 1234, 0000, abcd, etc. I know our machines had several operators across different shifts so the passwords were left simple for the operators menu. There were more advanced passwords we had for maintenance purposes.

I should think there will be a master password that over-rides all others so you can set the password for each access level but it's not likely the company will give you those without an engineer visit. Might be worth it to get an appraisal anyway in case the machine has a problem you missed.

Our machines used to go through elements & teflon tape quite quickly. We had a few sets of spare heads ready to fit so there was minimal down time. Part of my job was refurbishing the heads ready for use, I still have scars from the serrated cutters!

I bought it on bidspotter from a company specialises in food factories, this was left over from a previous auction, they had a video of it running making bags in their warehouse so I know it all works etc.

think I'll have to get the illapack guys out - it really narks me when companies sent out a sales guy instead of a proper tech guy.... if they charge a grand to send someone out they should know the machines inside out and be able to answer every question I could ever have and not just answer with buying new bits (while pointing to something that's working)

tho maybe I've just been unlucky with a couple of bad experiences
