anyone recognise this lathe slide?

Bought this at local autojumble with the thought that i could use it on my fobco to do some simple milling.

On the way home i realised its only a cross slide so it will limit what i can easily do milling wise (it does rotate about 60degrees) so still handy.

If i knew what lathe its off i could keep an eye out for a topslide.

Any lathe spotters out there?

It's a topslide with a toolpost, and it looks like a homemade one(or built from castings). What are its dimensions.

I am pretty sure the colour is identical to a Drummond I had...but I suppose anyone can paint anything any colour and lot's of early manufacturers used green...so that info was probably not worth typing

If it is a Drummond, it's definitely not from a Pre-B or A type, (unless a MKI A type slide has been put on a different baseplate). Could be from pretty much anything. A few more shots of it might help. It's definitely had a repair to two of the T-slots at some point.

Would it be possible to put a cross slide on it?

You mount topslides on cross slides, not the other way round. Here's a ML7 topslide on a Tee slot cross slide.

It does not have Tee slots, but you can see the round base and general arrangement is similar. If you're lucky you may find yours has degree markings on the base. Given the repairs made to the Tee slots it's been mistreated at some point, probably run into the chuck and damage caused.

Yes it has markings at the base.

So pretty much any topslide should fit?

Will give it a clean up tomorrow. Seems to be a reasonable size. As big as my boxford if not bigger

I was going to say Drummond it looks like the one on the round bed I used to have. Milling on a drill isn't a great idea there not designed for the sideways forces you'll put on it.
