Is anyone using the cheap power coating guns and house oven.what powder do you use and are the result worth it
I might use it again in the next few days, if I do I'll post some pics on this thread
When powder coating hit the streets mainstream in the early 90,s around here it was like ceramic coating and tough as nails, this i know as we had to clean and chase all the threads on our bike bits and it would ruin a tap after half a dozen clean outs...these days it seems softer and more like normal paints, i had a set of steel wheels powdered black for my truck and within 2 years they were red rustyI was once told that powder coating was literally indestructible, rock hard, tough as nails. However, I had some parts done, some place near Rugely, and I could easily mark them with my fingernail.
Someone in the know pointed out that it's all in the baking, hefty items will take a lot longer to reach the correct baking temperature than sheet metal items, so it's a question of how much of a rush the chef is in.
Amd I was also told that prep is important, metal needs blasting to a 'white metal' finish, to make sure it is totally clean.
The elctrostatic magic gun is a PC03 powder coating gun.

Electrostaticmagic kit doesn’t require a power source.Hey, ive just realised that the ebay ones seem to have a control box, but i cant see any evidence of any external control box anywhere on the electrostatic magic site, nor mention of changing the voltalage (i mean ive not read every word of the site, so forgive me if ive missed something!)
Some days I hate this forumFFS! Something else I never knew I needed.
