Anyone using an Apollo 60 Helmet?

I have an Apollo 60 Helmet that I acquired s/h with my Clemco blaster. It's in excellent condition but I have huge problems actually putting it on. OK I have a large head (7 1/2 hat size iirc) and I wear glasses. Getting it on without wiping my glasses off my face is almost impossible. There is a nice paded neck ruff that zips onto a zip fixed to the red cape arrangement and even totally unzipped and without the ruff it's too small. In desperation Ive actually cut the zip off the cape along with perhaps 1.5" of the material and now it goes on and off fine. But surely I shouldn't have to take such drastic measures. Especially as the inner adjustable head band adjusts (just!) to my head size.

Anyone else had a similar issue?

I've got a similar helmet (Scorpion) and I just take my glasses off.

Would contact lenses help?

Probably, but already having lost one eye I'm loath have either contact lenses or laser, which would probably be the thing otherwise. Be up a gum tree if anything went amiss. The cutting off of the neck band thingy has solved the problem but I find it odd that when it was on I had to push my head hard to get my forehead though the zippy thing so it's diameter was too small. I wondered if they made different sized cape thingys but there is only one part number listed.

I'd certainly agree about laser.

The Scorpion helmet has an elasticated band which goes round the neck. I've certainly used it with a breathing mask OK.

I'll try it with my glasses on in the morning. I have problems with long vision so I prefer to do close work without my specs anyway.

Right - I have the same problem with the Scorpion, the neck band won't stretch far enough to clear my glasses.
