Had some left over SIP rods . About 5 . Put them in with box of rods I got from tool station . Not knowing what rod I was pulling out the box , I started to weld . I thought something wrong here. Not welding very well.Tried another rod , welding fine . The morel of this story is . SIP rods are sh—- t.

I have some SIP rods here, used a few tonight.
No issues.

But I keep my rods dry.

It's unlikely your rods will be from the same supplier, most likely they buy from whoever is cheapest at the time.
I once bought some "white box" 6013 rods from Mole Valley Farmers and they were superb, found out they were actually made by Oerlikon.

I've been using Bohler AWS and Phoenix Blau and also some INE 46, got some SIF but not tried those yet, all are better than welding than me. INE rods are the smoothest of the bunch to my mind.

My local welding store sells oerlikon rods. Very nice rod to weld with. I always go for those

Something like Esab if you can't weld with Esab OK46.00 you can't weld at all
