yes much better if the rod sticks u can pull it off without the rod sticking to the job and falling of the croc clip , just buy any one up to 400 amp .u can pick them up for less than 8 quidi was thinking of swaping my arc croc electrode holder to the twist type,are there any pros and cons, also do i need to get a certain ampage one to suit my arc welder?

Some short stub holders have trouble holding small rods due to there poor quality, you get what you pay for, anything from 3 quid to 25 quid.
Another type of twist holder this type leaves a longer stub, but generally grips the rod tighter due to it design (note: this one carries the ESAB Brand).
Generally if your using 2.5 mm rods and above the holders are ok, its the smaller 1.6 and 2.0 mm rods that can be a pain to hold...
Find a local welding supplier and try the rod fit in the holder.
