arcs out at tip of gun

hi new to this forum iv dug me old welder out the loft and tryed to weld today and it seems to arc out at the tip of the gun anybody know wot could be the problem iv got a snap on 130 turbo mig many thanks nic

Welcome nic. Could be you have a blob of metal stuck inside the shroud, between it and the copper tip causing it to short. Pull shroud off and check/clean then try again. Mike in Bristol

iv just checked and noticed that the insert inside shroud is all loose and if i give it a shack it rattles so could that be the problem thats makein it shourt out

Nic what insert? If you go to the link at top of page. WELDEQUIP, Then under MIG, EURO TOURCH, TYPE 15 CONSUMABLES, at bottom of page is it A,B,1,or 2 ?

You need a new shroud, sounds like the insulation is compromised.

thank every1 for your help it was the shroud and i got sum new tip and it all good now
