Are Scheppach Tools And Equipment Good Quality?

Hi all,

I've been on the lookout for a compact, upright compressor for my van and Scheppach have several that would adequately fulfill my needs and also spare parts seem to be readily available should the need arise to replace something.

Are Scheppach a reputable brand?

I'd appreciate any feedback - good or bad - people would have on this topic.

They used to be a decent brand, made in Europe & they make some of the tools for Lidl, Aldi, etc. But in recent years I think they have been simply rebadging Chinese sourced stuff and their quality has gone downhill.

As above, I have a planer thicknesser and table saw which are a few years old now and of good quality, recently had a small compressor which was just the same as all the other chinese tools. Also they are very expensive on spares, but most can be obtained elsewhere. Still rate the early stuff though.

I have a table saw which is 40 years old and apart from a bit of powder coating coming of it's solid....oh and it lives outside under a cover.

But as had been mentioned things change over time and parts get made elsewhere.....

My 2 year old compressor from them arrived with a defective piece of pipe work which they sent me to replace. Since then I’ve had to replace the manifold as the original was made of monkey metal. Would I buy from them again? Probably not.

like Mercedes trading on the name not quality....prob the wood tools are still European....

I do not know how Mercedes have gotten away with it for so long, their last really good model range was the 123 series,

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. It's a shame about the quality of equipment going down hill. I'd be willing to pay a small premium for a better built machine.

Of all the upright compressors I've looked at so far it ticks the most boxes for my requirements. The main use I need it for is blowing dust and lime mortar off stone walls and out of cavities.
I like the fact that it has a detachable handle which could be easily replaced with one with hooks for cables and hoses and the rubber feet could be replaced with wheels.

Could you buy one of the parkside ones in lidl & convert it to vertical?

It wouldn't be worth the hassle, I've found an Ebay seller in Germany offering the one I'm interested in for €126 + €11 postage.
