I attempted to repair my dogs pooper scoop, but rusty hole out, and cut new metal to replace it, I'm not sure of settings on my sureweld momomig 181, I ended up blowing holes big time, I turned power down, well think it was the power, and I managed to fill in the blown holes, looked a right mess but enjoyed my first repair attempt.
Can anyone tell how to set this welder up.
Here's a picture, once your back up from the floor laughing, be greatful for some help

do you have a picture of the front of the welder with the switches etc. Usually on mig you will have some switches for voltage and a dial for wire feed.

the more voltage you have, the more heat you have so more penetration, and the faster the wire speed, the more current you get, and more metal deposited in the weld pool.

wow what a project to start with you couldn't have picked a rustier piece of metal, amazing what a coat of paint can do as to setting the machine have a read of the tutorial on here, there is a calculator which will give you a good starting point to power setting and a guide to setting wire speed that should get you going, Start of with some new clean metal to practise with as rusty steel is a nightmare l hope that helps Norm

I did clean up the work area, but blew most of it away lol

I know top ones wire speed but not sure what the one below does, I will mainly use it for car work on metals 1.2 & 1.25mm so need settings for this.i had the gas on 12 o'clock on the gauge that reads 20. It's argon mix gas.

I'm sure Brokenbiker will talk you thro it but bottom one with white background is your voltage or Power setting, top is as you say wire speed and one below that is a spot timer so you can stitch weld, the small toggle switch between them should turn that feature on or off.

Try welding on a higher power until the wire melts into a small pool and then lift off b4 it burns through then repeat till you get round. But well done for getting it to stick!

Thanks, I gave it a hit with a hammer and it didn't fall out, I did lower the amps to build up the blown holes, I did some practice lines on 4 amp and wire speed between 6/7 on 2.5mm metal and it wasn't that bad, but I won't be using metal that thick on my moggy.

what wire is that with? The machine i had like this was good at power setting 5 and 6 with 0.8mm wire,setting 4 was always was a bit weak and crackley.

beaten to it, pretty much as norm says. The spot timer might come in handy welding a Morris. Do some test runs until its giving good tacks then leave it at that and it will cut out before you blow through

Well I had a go and did what the guy in the video said, I ended up welding my tip together with the wire lol oops
Just ordered new tips and shrouds
How tight do I tighten the wire spool on ? The wire I'm using is 0.8
I can hear the gas pretty loud when I pull trigger is this normal as I don't recall hearing it on my Clarke 100e

this is just a timer, when it is set in spot weld mode when you pull the trigger it will start welding, then after it has reached its time limit it will stop welding and you can release the trigger. the time you need will depend on the metal thickness and the penetration you want
