what auction sites do you use to look for lathes/mills etc, I can find plenty with a google but wondering what ones you think are the best or are they all the same/just depends?
Been a while since I was buying regularly but have had some bargains from https://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb
Never bought any machines or vehicles but they keep sending emails with interesting lots (all kinds of machines & equipment) to tempt me.
ps. Don't shoot the messenger (me or anybody else) if you end up with an over-filled workshop and a shortage of pocket money in the near future
Bidspotter is fun, but just be careful with (a) add on about 40% to your bid to cover VAT and commission; (b) If you place a maximum bid, and you happen to be the only bidder with no competition, then the site will auto bid up to your maximum bid….
One thing I will say if theres something in a auction out of place ie a new machine in a auction full of old kit etc in my experience there's usually a reason why
I'd also say the non specialised auction sites can have more bargains but again they take more finding-a company that specialises in selling workshop equipment will have a lot bigger customer vase signed up that maybe one that does a variety of stuff
A fair portion of my workshop kit has come from auctions if you look at everything as worse case and don't get carried away bidding you'll be ok
Some stuff just goes dull money don't assume because it's a auction with no garauntee etc it will be cheaper than buying off a decent dealer who'll garauntee a machine works!
