auto helmet

Hi everybody, first post so be gentle with me

new to welding, just bought myself a 140A oxford arc. Have been looking at auto helmets and come across this axminster one:

Any good? I've seen the same mask for £40 elsewhere. Also unsure what the 100u/sec means, is the 100milli seconds?

100 usec is 100 micro seconds which equates to one ten thousandth of a second. Pretty fast. However a parweld xr914 supposedly switches at one twenty five thousandths of a second, or about 2.5 times faster, and you'll get one for less.

Can't comment on the helmet you've linked to, but I have a parweld, and it works great. Welcome to the forum BTW.

din 8-13, 1/25000 sec, etc...



Interested to know if any expensive ones use a camera/lcd for indirect viewing (common for playing with lasers). I was about to hack one together, but cba - it would take too long.
