B ending to BSP on U.S. bought Cobra 2000 torch

This is my first post here and I have done a forum search but am not altogether clear on this so excuse repeat post. I went to a Ron Fournier gas welding workshop in Detroit where we did some aluminium welding. Impressed with the Cobra dhc 2000 in use I bought one. I was aware of the different American fittings, but didn't think there would be difficulty finding a solution like either a female American "B" (9/16) style fitting to British oxy acetylene hose or failing that a left and right threaded female B style fitting with a barbed end on it which I could attach to a cut down British hose. My local welding supply shop, Planet Welding has been quite helpful in the past, but were stumped with this one. I also asked them about the possibility of machining down a B threaded attachment to my U.K. hoses, but this seems less than ideal, and apparently machine shops will have difficulty with the gas threading side. Love to hear what adapter I need to look for and perhaps a link.

I have a similar issue, having purchased a set of tinman-tech ultra soft O/A hoses. One end fits my tiny torch, but the other end is just a little bit smaller than a regulator output. I will do some research and perhaps we can pool our efforts... Be nice to get my silver-soldering rig all fixed up finally.

have you looked inside the machine to see what is connected to the fitting? its possible its just a bulkhead connector that could be easy changed

Could you not get the nuts and hose tails you need mail order from the States? Surely easier to crimp the correct fittings onto your hoses than messing around trying to recreate something that will already exist on a shelf somewhere.

Thats one of the reasons why when i bought my Miller i got a uk/ce marked one that uses uk style torch fittings.

You might have to get them from http://dillonwelding.com/en/parts/spare-parts.html, but do mail them to check that they fit your torch as I seem to have read somewhere that the European torch has different connections to the American ones.

I'll probably just cut the reg ends off the hoses and recrimp some UK sized reg tails on...

To the OP, get yourself a set of tinman tech hoses, they will compliment your torch well, and they'll probably have the right torch tails on.

From memory A type connectors are 3/8 24 unf nuts and the B are 9/16 18? unf I think it would be easy enough to get L n R hand taps to suit and get nuts made but is it worth it? for a few days post from USA.

I was thinking it was a welding machine instead of a welding torch. Had a similar issues at work recently where two lads had spent days ringing around trying to get bit even contacting USA for a connector at which point I walk past as say why not just swap the plug! 20min on rs website job sorted

Even shopping around helps, I wanted an interface plug for a Kemppi welder, they quoted nearly £100, found it on RS for half that then bought it from a specialist connector supplier for £30!

Only trouble is, you need someone in the States to order a set for you, at least when you try online. As I used to live there and still have friends, this was no major issue for me.
I'm hoping my U.K. hoses, which I presume are 6mm ID should work.

You sure they are B --- 9/16 ? would have thought they were 3/8, you could measure across the outer dia of the thread which should be just under 3/8.
as far as 1/4 and 6mm hoses they are near enough.

definitely B. Measured and looked at specs before ordering

9/16 unf left hand is going to be a hard one especially with it being left hand thread, to match.
9/16 jic or dash 6 is standard hyd fitting but a right hand thread.
As said maybe one of our US members might be able to buy the fitting and post it Fedex express used to do a whatever fitted in their bag service for $7 ish airmail I have had loads of m/cycle bits sent over that way.

I had a miss-match on a new regulator, so just cut off the the suitable ends and silver soldered them together (with a little machined step for a good joint)
Worked for me.
