Decided to go the whole hog with my horizontal mill. What started out as concern over the lack of oil in the feeds gearbox has resulted in a fair bit of fettling so far - with plenty more to come.
The gearbox is totally rebuilt with the new clutch fork documented here http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/building-up-brass-component.58011/page-2#post-708849
I was very lucky with the rest of it, all bearings sound and feel nice once cleaned, dried and re-oiled, one thrust shim missing from centre gear carrier. Modified one PB bush to include an oil seal at the point the shaft exits the gearbox.
Oil pump in good order just not working because the linkage seized up, too much hermitite used by someone in the past.
Over-arm support brackets, blasted, and re-painted with original oiling system re-instated
I wanted to avoid the entire machine being stripped at once, so next logical step was the knee itself (the above gearbox lives on the knee). Stripped the covers off it and cleaned/painted the knee
Saddle and table now removed too, not painted yet
