Hi all

Pacini 100l 3hp compressor
It can't even pump a car tyre without cutting out and start refilling again.
I've been a mechanic for years but never did anything with them except using an impact wrench

Only about 3 hours, it's brand new mate

sounds like you have a leak somewhere, try watching the gauge after the motor cuts off and see if the pressure is holding steady or dropping like a stone

The pressure switch could be faulty or set wrong so it's cutting in with a tiny pressure drop.

There should be a reasonable pressure drop before the compressor kicks in.
15 or 20psi would be normal but depends on the compressor.
See what pressure it switches off at and then what it restarts at.

The minute the pressure drops 20 psi, the motor starts for about 20 seconds then rinse and repeat.

If it set to 60psi the minute it goes near 40 it's cuts out. I was reading about adjusting the pressure switch, I took the cover over and see a huge spring with + - on the screw

Post some pictures........60 psi isnt much mines at 8.5 bar which is 125 psi roughly.

Well if I set it at 120 psi it'll cut off at 100psi.
I won't be able to post a pic until tomorrow I'm afraid

Get the top off the switch box and adjust it to a higher pressure. If the pressure differential is 20psi it will still kick in but you'll get longer between pumps. My Wolf 100 ltr trips at 120psi and kicks back in at 90psi

If you have it cutting out at 60 psi it has less than half the air volume you would normally expect.
So 60psi = 4 bar X 100 = 400l
You should have, say 10 bar x 100 = 1000l
That's a big difference.

Use the regulator to get the pressure you want.

Sound, I'll try that max is 10bar I think.

Just check the rating of the tank.
There will be a pressure relief valve on it and if you over pressure it will blow off.

You are on the right lines increasing the pressure to the max allowable.

If its only had 3 hours running, just take it back for a replacement RonA

You'll have a much better time with a compressor around 100psi than at 40psi!
