hey, i can lay very nice beads, but i was welding an ancor out of a lard tractor rim and i was welding a giant pipe clam onto it so that you could chain it. and the pipe clamp was about 1/2 inch thick steel so it was quite high off of the plate i was welding it too, i set my welder to 160 amps and used a 7018, and i was getting like air pin holes in my welds and the welds were not solid, so i tried it with a 6013 and it was the same story. while i was welding i treated it as a 90 degree angle because the metal was so thing i went on about a 45 degree angle and a 70 degree angle towards me, i hope that makes sense, it was tough to go any other way than towards me because of the walls of the rim, so the rod as i was welding straight towards me was 45 degree left to right and 70 degrees towards me, and i was not getting very good welds they will work but, i would like a prettier weld. thanks
