It all started with some power loss and very high speeds and it developed from there
I got carried away and stripped head off for valve lapping, then the cylinders to check and have decided she needs a turbo, just for the fun of the build.
Here she is before I stripped her off and got my hands on her.
Plan is rebuild head and decoke pistons. Pistons and bores are right in middle of tolerance so happy to go with them as is.
7-8psi boost from a TD04 13T scooby turbo as this turbo is well used in this engine, need to check about carbon seals though.
Turbo will be under seat or maybe behind shock if I build a different swingarm.
Single carb of suitable size and that will probably be a simple flat slide or round slide mikuni as that’s type of carbs I grew up with on field bikes etc.
Maybe tubular trellis style swing arm, just because I can .
Rear end will be change to probably something like R6 but will depend on swing arm look and length as to what looks right.
Headlight and clocks change at some point also.
So first job is rebuild head, then compression checks, leak down etc to check I’ve solved issues.
Here is head off bike, as you can see some running issues caused by weak coil and dodgy HT lead.
All the cosmetic stuff will come after the blow job to keep motivation high and stand chance of finishing it.
