Bandsaw trolley.

Built this up over the last couple of days. For some reason I decided to buy one of these band saws without wheels, right pita when it needs moving to cut something long and no ones around to help lift it. All four castors swivel with brakes, it locks up really solid with brakes on and moves lovely around the shed into position, or outside for really long lengths. Frame is made up using 40x40mm by 5mm angle, castors are the 75mm ones from toolstation.

I have a similar Clarke bandsaw on the original frame. I love the bandsaw but the frame mount is absolutely awful. That looks like a nice improvement.

My bandsaw has no balance and if I lift the end with the handle to move it I risk tipping the thing over. The power cable can end up under the legs after a move and I risk chopping the cable in half due to the thin gauge of the legs. The frame also catches on the floor at the wheeled end when it is lifted to get it moved. I really must get it replaced. A pair of breeze blocks would be an improvement to be honest.

standard trolleys are rubbish made to a price...........ur's a much better job and will last a life time........good un.....frank

Yes its a much better setup that.

I reinforced my stand with some angle on the corners picking up the original axle so it now actually works! but I think I'll add a better trolley like yours to the list.

I have that same Sealey Band saw. Now after 5 years that small Gearbox has started leaking its Oil. What I did was to drain the oil and then drill and tap that square plate and put a grease nipple in the middle, Filled it with Grease now its not a problem. However its time to change the band as most teeth are now useless lol.. Any recommendations for a new band what teeth per inch etc.What do you all use ?

A thick gear oil is what I use. I tried grease but I found the motor was getting warmer than usual with the added resistance through the worm and gear so I went with a gear oil.

With regard to the blade. I use starret m42 blades from tuffsaw. They are just about the best your brass can buy.
Tpi depends on what your cutting thickness wise. It’s always better to go slightly too many than too less. A course tooth blade will be suited to thick material and a quicker cut. However you’ll see it into a scrap bin quickly if you try to put it through thin walled box section. A fine tooth blade would be more suited for this as you should always try to have a minimum of 3 teeth in contact at any one time. If you use a fine tooth blade on thick stuff it won’t do the blade any harm but have a kettle on board as you could be waiting a while. I use 10-12tpi and 18-20 tpi
It covers everything I cut quite nicely.

Nice trolley,i did something similar to my clark version,boxed it in on 3 sides.shelf underneath keeps the swarf out and provides storage for the offcuts that always come in handy.
