Hi, I've recently restarted restoring a TR7V8, but have some question over the validity of the project bearing in mind the state of the bodywork. I'm ok with cutting out & welding in new floor panels, sills etc, but unsure of the actual exterior bodywork prep.
Below is a close up of the passenger door. This door had a new skin 10yrs ago but sat in a damp lockup ever since & has loads of surface rust through the black transport paint. I've stripped it to bare metal using "clean & strip" disc and applied Jenolite (I'm on my last litre, switching to POR Metal ready from then on). My next step was to prime it with Bonda Rust Primer to give it some protection whilst I finish welding the bodywork etc.
However, I am a little concerned about the amount of pitting in the metal which is similar across the whole car.
Can I treat this as above, or is something else required?
