Bare metal protection

I have been doing some homework into what's best to seal/protect indoor artwork that will be wire brushed clean.

A lot of the posts are old and I wondered if technology has produced anything new.

Recommendations include engine oil, jade oil, beeswax , linseed oil and renaissance wax and I wondered what everyone was using these days ?
Obviously pre heat would be part of the process.

I also wanted to ask for suggestions for getting into small/hidden areas that can't be reached with cleaning wheels/dremels.
Someone has suggested brake/clutch cleaner poured/brushed on.

Any thoughts welcome

If it's in a centrally heated house and not in the bathroom you don't need to do anything. I made some book shelves from mild steel box polished up (one in the kitchen) and they haven't gone rusty. They've been up for over two years.

As for cleaning your metal art work. I must note I only use this after iv welded . To get to parts I can’t get to that are smoked up . It’s cheap Tesco wheel cleaner £2 brilliant stuff
