Basecoat and thinners.

Got some of this http://www.paints4u.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=1683 to do a set of wheels, am I right in thinking that it would be ok to mix with normal thinners?

Depends what you mean by normal thinners. Cellulose thinners no, 2k clearcoat thinners yes.

Don't use 2k "standard" thinners (gunwash). Get some good stuff meant for top coat/ laquer etc as the standard tends to be yellowish and will affect the colour.

Unlikely to be any good as it's too cheap. Probably standard/ gunwash thinners.

Buy some of the cheaper stuff to use for cleaning your gun out with.
Try finding your nearest paint stockist/ supplier as it will save on the shipping costs.

Bloody hell this isn't simple is it.

Right got my Basecoat http://www.paints4u.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=1683 and also my thinners http://www.paints4u.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=2246.

Now unless I've missed it and I've looked hard it dosen't tell me the mixing ratio for the above, anyone any ideas?

I've searched and found out the mixing ratio for cellulose is 1 to 1, so I'm happy to go with that. so that's the primer out of the way.

Now onto the laquer, I bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130516635849?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 as my laquer, I'm assuming 20:85 is the mixing ratio or something?

Basecoat usually mixes 50/50

TRADITIONAL PROCESS
BSB BASECOAT (MET or MICA) 1000 parts
00740 (Speedy) –741 (Medium) –742 (Slow) –00755 (Extra slow)
THINNERS AUTOREFINISHING 800 - 1000 parts

BSB (SOLID) 1000 parts
00740 (Speedy) –741 (Medium) –742 (Slow) –00755 (Extra slow)
THINNERS AUTOREFINISHING 600 - 800 parts

How do I work it out?

Mix an equal amount of basecoat to thinners by volume.

1000 parts paint to 800 to 1000 parts thinners if metallic, or if solid paint its as richie says equal amounts.
If you use a straight sided mixing jar and a ruler it would be 10cm paint and 8cm of thinners, if its too thick you can add another 2cm of thinners.Or you can do it in multiples 5cm and 4cm.
